Christine L. Hendrickson Obituary
Christine Lorena Hendrickson was born on June 27, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Hosie L. Fason, Jr. and Artelia M. Fason (Echols). From the beginning, Christine's life would become one defined by faith, family, strength, love, and an unforgettable sense of style.
At the age of three, Christine and her family left Chicago and made their home in Brooklyn, New York. The family later settled in Queens, where Christine attended John Adams High School and St. Luke's Baptist Church. It was during these formative years that the foundation was laid for the strong Christian faith that would remain an important part of her life.
As a young woman, Christine met Reginald B. Hendrickson, whom she married in July 1973. Their journey together took them to Germany before eventually bringing them home to New York, where they settled in the Bronx and raised their two sons, Vance and Michael Hendrickson.
In later years, Christine shared her life with her longtime companion and dear friend, Robert Brown. For more than 18 years, Robert remained faithfully by her side, sharing in life's joys, challenges, and countless memories.
Christine's faith was not something she simply professed—it was something she lived. A devoted Christian, she faithfully served Soundview Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in the Bronx and, in July 2011, was ordained as a Deaconess. Her church and her service to God held a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Christine also knew that she had a personality all her own. She was a true diva—and proudly so. Hair done, nails done, makeup just right—that was Christine. Even with her hair pulled into a ponytail and a NY Yankees or NY Giants cap on her head, she somehow managed to look polished. She loved looking good, feeling good, and carrying herself with confidence. If Christine walked into the room, you knew she had arrived.
But beneath the style was a woman deeply devoted to the people she loved. She was a daughter, sister, wife, companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her family was woven throughout every chapter of her life, and the memories she created with them will remain long after her passing.
Christine was also a hardworking and accomplished woman. She devoted many years of her career to Texaco, now Chevron, before retiring. Not quite ready to slow down, she later joined Ernst & Young (EY), where she worked for several more years before permanently retiring and eventually making Tampa, Florida, her home.
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Christine completed her earthly journey in Tampa, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosie L. Fason, Jr. and Artelia M. Fason; her husband, Reginald B. Hendrickson; and her beloved baby sister, Jeanie Fason.
Christine leaves a beautiful legacy to be cherished by her siblings, Gladys Giles, Howard "Butch" Fason, her twin sister Justine Washington, Hosie (Renee) Fason, and Charlene Fason; her longtime companion, Robert Brown; her brother-in-law, Alphonso Wilkins, her sons, Vance Hendrickson, and Michael Hendrickson;. Her daughters through love Niambi Hamilton and Kyshema Underwood.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Jaquanna Hendrickson, Marquis Smith, Elijah Smith, Jayde Smith, Devonte Hendrickson, Bryce Hendrickson, Aubrey Grimes-Hendrickson, Malachi Rosas, Khalil Hamilton, and Nyjah Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Aniyah Hamilton, Nicari Hamilton, and Aleiya Hamilton; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.
Christine's life cannot be measured simply by the years she lived, but by the people she loved, the family she helped build, the faith she carried, and the memories she leaves behind.
Her presence was unmistakable. Her faith was enduring. Her love for her family was lasting. And in true Christine fashion, she remained "So Fresh and So Clean" while doing it all.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
