With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John M. Hynes (Brooklyn, New York), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 15, 2026 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Garrahy and Michael Hynes; his sister Mary Hannan; and his brothers-in-law, James Hannan and Gerald Artz.

He is survived by: his children, Michael, Anna (Setaro) and Marine Park; his wife Rita Fitzgerald Hynes; his son-in-law Joseph Setaro; his grandchildren, Julia and Joseph; and his sister Anna Artz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in John's memory to Brookline Labrador Rescue as a way to thank the four "friends" with whom he shared his cookies.
