She was predeceased by: her parents, John Gawel and Aniela Gawel; her husband Reinhold Schermer; her son John; and her siblings, Genevieve Sullo, Joseph and Andrew Gawel.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joanne Baumann (Thomas) and Gayle Schermer; her grandchildren, Amy Short, Kevin Baumann (Julianne) and Jacqueline Fitzmaurice (James); and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Amelia, Thomas Baumann, Ava, Tess and Bryn Fitzmaurice. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
