He was predeceased by: his wife Sylvia Ann Phillips; his daughters, Donna JoAnn and Pamela Ann Fader (Robert); his parents, Howard J. Phillips and Jessie Phillips; and his sister Marilyn Palmore.

He is survived by: his grandsons, Matthew James (Tatiana) and Jeffrey James; his great grandchildren, Mason and Liam; and his brother Robert James Phillips (June).
