He was predeceased by: his wife Martha (Kilburn); and his brother Frederick (Marge). He is survived by: his children, Virginia Clayton (William), Barbara Palmer (late David), Kathleen Southard (Brian Reese), Maryann Knowlton (late George), Donna Warner (Randy), Steven Vungaro and Alisa Smith (Marion); and his brothers, Butch (late Eleanor), Martin (Brigette) and Edward Surdam (Elaine). He is also survived by grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
