He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Jines Castro and Hilda Castro. He is survived by: his parents, James Castro, Sr. and Palmira Medina-Castro; his siblings, Keysha Lozada and Nicole Castro; his grandparents, Samuel Medina and Santia Medina; his aunts and uncles, Mildred Castro, Richard Castro, Elizabeth Castro, Dennis Durante, Jose Medina (late Angelina), Samuel Medina, Jr., Melvin Medina, Esperanza Martinez (Rafael) and Americo Medina (Joanna); his cousins, Angelina Fisher, Edwin Rivera, Jr. (Teresa Sepulveda) and Giovani Rivera; and his pet Luna.
