She was predeceased by: her daughter Sarah E. Sanford; and her brothers, Peter and Mark Griffith. She is survived by: her husband William H. Sanford IV; her children, William H. Sanford V, Shaina Majed (Johnny), John Sanford (Melissa), Carly J. Sanford and Lara Sanford; her grandchildren, Jude, Daisy, James and Lily; her siblings, Timothy Griffith (Merrilee) and Margaret Frye (Douglas); and her sister-in-law Carol Griffith. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, Inc. (911 Englewood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14223). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations, may be made in Joann's memory to the Erie County Medical Center.
