Though Joanne has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She was predeceased by: her parents, G. Benjamin Werner and Marjorie Werner; her husband James McCartin; and her brothers, George (late Mary Lou) and Rev. Benjamin Werner.
She is survived by: her nieces and nephews, Michael, John, Thomas and George Werner; and her stepdaughter Margaret Orcutt. She is also survived by her family, her friends.
At the same time, she shared her passion for language and global understanding through Pomost ("Bridge"), a two-week program teaching conversational English in Rzeszów, Poland—a program later paused due to COVID and the refugee crisis from Ukraine.
