Mary I. Rizzo Obituary
We announce the death of Mary I. Rizzo (Buffalo, New York), who passed away on October 7, 2026. Mary will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Rizzo; and her siblings, Antoinette Cannizzaro, Anthony Cannizzaro (late Joan) and Domenic Cannizzaro (late Jane). She is survived by: her children, Linda Rizzo, Carl Rizzo (Pamela), Paula Pirson (Randy), Mark Rizzo (Angela) and Lisa Viola (Mike); her grandchildren, Brianna, Joseph (Danielle Brodzik), Isabella Borsa (Joseph) and Geena (Daniella Colafella); her great grandchild Gianna; her sister Nancy Cannizzaro; and her brother-in-law Anthony Rizzo (Rosemary). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Delaware Chapel (1132 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14209). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Church (345 Seventh St, Buffalo, NY 14201).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Church or Hospice Buffalo, Inc. Mary was a Director of the Holy Cross Head Start Program, Eucharistic Minister, Choir Member, Ladies Society Member, and Parish Trustee of Holy Cross Church.
