She was predeceased by: her parents, Tim Bohan and Sadie Bohan; her husband Tom Cours; her son Kenneth; her brothers, Jerry and John; and her siblings-in-law, Loren Schmitz, Betty Thayer and Barbara Hensley.

She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Damisch (Rick) of Robins, IA and Debi Cours (Shawn Skeries) of Granada Hills, CA; her grandchildren, Andrew Damisch, Toby Damisch (Marcie), Mike Damisch, Jeff Damisch (Jess Shedd), Morgan Skeries and Keara Skeries; her great grandchildren, Will Damisch and Evie Damisch; her siblings, Marie Schmitz and Tom Bohan (Jackie); and her sister-in-law Betty Bohan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rita's memory may be directed to the Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation, the March of Dimes, or any charity of the donor's choice.
