She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Leon I. Nowakowski, Jr.; her son Leon III (Debbie); and her sibling Camille Contino (Carl). She is survived by: her children, Dr. James (Tina) and Tasha Nadjimzadah; her granddaughter Dr. Krystyna; her son William E. Nowakowski (Mary Lou) of Savannah; and her grandchildren, Krystyna of Tuscon and Arian Nadjimzadah of Los Angeles, California.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
