He was predeceased by : his parents, Colonel John J MacFarland and Harriet McDonald MacFarland. He is survived by : his wife Nancy Manning; his grandchildren, Lt. Gen, Lynda of Texas, Joseph G MacFarland of Massachusetts and Lisa of Alabama; and his daughters, Tracey Stetin (Daniel), Alicia M. Arbuthnot (Rick) and Erin B. Greene (Charles). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
