He was predeceased by: his parents, Justin T. Schaeffer and Hazel H. Schaeffer; his brother J. Thomas Schaeffer; and his grandson Shawn Spoon. He is survived by: his children, David L. Schaeffer II (Kristen) and Brooke D'Amico (Jeffrey); his granddaughters, Liliana D'Amico and Isabella D'Amico; his sisters, Sharon Reid (Francis) and Karen Ham; and his sister-in-law Virginia Schaeffer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
