He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Mahan and Sarah Mahan; his grandmother Mayme Mahan; and his siblings, Mary Patricia Campbell, Patrick and James Mahan.

He is survived by: his partner Florrie Lodico; his children, Anthony and Angela; his sisters, Alice MacKerchar (Leigh), Debora Mahan (Charles Hock), Joan Ulam (Thomas) and Donna Mahan (Tony Almeida); and his grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas Lodico and Inaya. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
