He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Woodhams Coats; his siblings, Richard Coats, Clyde Coats, Lester Coats, Jerry Coats and Audrey Daffler; and his parents, Claude Coats and Aroline Coats (Kintner).
He is survived by: his sons, William P. Coats and Robert C. Coats (Elena); his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jason (Moriah) and Patrick (Alexis); his great grandchildren, Pia, Kai, Malia, Ellie and Makayla; his great great grandchild Aubree; and the mother of his children Joan M. Coats. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
