He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Merring and Esther Merring (Mossberg); and his former wife Marcia Roosa. He is survived by: his wife Betty; his brother Richard Merring; his children, Tom Merring (Virginia), Eric "Rick" Merring (Belinda), David Merring, Dana Merring (Lynda) and Lynda Drake (Doug); and his stepchildren, Timothy Angell, Philip Angell (Sandi) and Heather Adams (Robert). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
