He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Brainerd and Gladys Burger Brainerd; his wife Dorothy Manchester Brainerd; and his siblings, Randy Brainerd, Charlene Brainerd and Wanda Brainerd.
He is survived by: his son Merlin Brainerd (Jamie) of Castile; his stepgrandchildren, Evan and Abigail Sarkis; and his close friend Deb Smith.
