He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Whitehead and Gertrude Whitehead (Pinckney); and his brother Jim Whitehead. He is survived by: his wife Eline Whitehead (Christensen); his stepdaughter Jill Solfiell; his stepgrandson Jackson Solfiell; his stepdaughters, Erin Acquesta (Solfiell) and Kara Otis (Solfiell); Brian Acquesta, Jesse Otis, Addison Otis and Davis Otis.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brew Funeral Home (48 South St, Auburn, NY 13021). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal rescue organization in Gary's honor, reflecting his lifelong commitment to giving animals a loving home.
