He was predeceased by: his father Garfield N. Schaus; and his brothers, Edward Schaus (Sharon) and Gerald Schaus (Kay). He is survived by: his mother Lois J. Schaus (Warner) of Yorkshire; his children, Miranda Rodriguez (Eric Westfall) of Machias, Jeri Schaus of Cobleskill, Andrew Schaus (Robin) of Gasport, Sherrie Bennett (Tom) of Yorkshire, Michelle Zimpfer (Scott) of Lancaster, NY, Kathy Slocum (Eric) of Holland and Matt Thompson (Sandy) of Texas; his grandchildren, Colby (Kendra), Travis (Miranda), Corey Smith (Brittany), Mateo, Carlos Rodriguez, Cayden Schaus, Erica Westfall, Brandon Conroy (Davina), Gerald (Jolene), Kaitlyn Schaus, Calob Usatch, Melinda Schaus, Ryan Bennett (Breanna), Noah, Jacob Zimpfer (Claudia) and Gabriel Slocum; and his siblings, George Schaus (Debbie) of Kennedy, NY, Donald Schaus (Sue) of Yorkshire and Janet Belscher (Thomas) of Machias. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Sardinia Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a local fire company of the donor's choice.
