He was predeceased by : his parents, John H. Wert and Marguerite Van Wert (Waldron); and his sisters-in-law, Muriel Spaziani and Liz Maloney. He is survived by : his wife Mary Van Wert (Spaziani); his children, Mark Van Wert (Sal), Peter Van Wert (Alicia), Timothy Van Wert (Ashly Emmer) and Patricia McMahon (John); his siblings, Teresa Benedict (James), William Van Wert, John Van Wert and Julie Foster; his grandchildren, Delia Van Wert, Jack, Lena Van Wert, Lily, Max Van Wert, Margaret, Gabriella and Bernadette McMahon; and his siblings-in-law, John Spaziani, James Spaziani and Anne Orlando (Matthew). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Mike's name to Notre Dame High School, 1400 Maple Ave, Elmira, NY 14904.
