He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Samsel and Nellie Samsel; and his brother David. He is survived by: his daughter Nicole Merris; and his siblings, Peter, Michael, Timothy, Susan Hillyer, Katherine Woznek, Martha Beatty and Sara Justo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
