He was predeceased by : his parents, Mabel Anna Wilkins and Francis Oliver Cooley; his wife Marilyn; his children, Peter and Gretchen; and his brother Frank.

He is survived by : his pet Pat; his children, Jon (Deborah), Shawna Gunter (William) and Anne (Kathleen Czerwiak); his daughter-in-law Mary Bronner; his granddaughters, Tara Mellor, Kelsey Holbrook, Mackenzie Cooley and Lauren Cooley; his great grandchildren, Evan Mellor, Carter Holbrook, Aristaeus Brege, Charlie Holbrook, Ainsley Mellor and Artemis Brege; his brother David Cooley (Carol); his sister-in-law Patricia Cooley; his nieces and nephews, Sandra Collings, Allison Couch, Jody Cooley Dydynski, Jeane Fernando, David Cooley and Chris Cooley; and his cousins, Annette Foley, Bill Matteson, Jim Hoff and Jim Dawes.
