He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ritzel and Anna Ritzel (Skube); his wife Helen Agnes Nester of Mary's Church; his sons, Gerard Ritzel, Jr. and Steve Ritzel; his granddaughter Christina Ritzel; and his siblings, Charles, Bernard Ritzel and Alice Fischer.
He is survived by: his sons, Christopher (Mary Ritzel), William (April Ritzel), Kenneth (Emaline Ritzel) and Joseph Ritzel (Christine Chelle); his close friend Vivian Gorman of Waterville; and his grandchildren, Patrick Ritzel, Johnathon Ritzel (Ashley), Christopher Ritzel, Jr. (Alison), Amy Ritzel (Sal Rosabianca), Maria Ritzel, Rachael Wilczak (Brian), Vinnie Esposito (Will Elchert), Bill Ritzel (Sarah Criossman), Anthony, Carmen, Coco, Kenny, Jr., Tanaya, Shania, Joseph, Andrew Ritzel and Bradley Ritzel. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In honor of Gerard's deep love for dogs, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a local animal rescue or shelter in his name.
