He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl W. Coons and Mary Francis Gross; his granddaughter Jourdann Spath-Coons; and his brother Thomas Coons. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Coons; his children, John Coons, Jr. (Carmella) and Donna Dancsecs (Tom); his grandchildren, Derek, Jenna Dancsecs and Maria Paluba; and his siblings, Earl A. Coons (Katherine), Joyce Bendon, Martin Coons, Nancy Coons-Taylor and Sandra Nolan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
