He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Bidwell Root and Elihu Root III of Clinton. He is survived by: his sisters, Alice Root of Beverly Hills, FL and Carolyn Root of Durham, NC.; his nieces, Hazel B. Nichols of Chapel Hill, NC, Rosalind B. Borders of New Orleans, LA and Sophie R. Brant of Smithville Flats, NY; and his nephew Elihu R. Bogan of Montecito, CA. He is also survived by nine grandnieces/grandnephews.
