He was predeceased by: his parents, John Merwin and Hazel Merwin (Owens); his wife Peggy (Place); his siblings, Grant Jr. (Nelva), Dorothy Weaver (Charlie), Yvonne "Bonnie" German (Rodney) of Grand Gorge, Ronald Schermerhorn (JoEllen) of Lexington, Loretta Wright (Herbert), Charlotte Garrison (Russell), Ernestine Bier (Nick) of Acra and Alta Weis (Floyd) of Seward; his stepfather Grant Schermerhorn Sr.; and his grandson Gregory.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Tucker (Billy) of Sharon Springs and Wendy Ouellette (Ernie) of Sharon Springs; his brother Robert Schermerhorn (Denise) of Seward; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Tucker, TJ Hoose (Marissa) of Richfield Springs, Alicia Maniotis (Rob), Wesley Tucker of Roseboom, Greg Ouellette (Shannon Sears) of Sharon Springs and Daniel Ouellette (April Tewilliger) of Sharon Springs; and his great grandchildren, Avery, Declan, Ansilie, Braxton Hoose, Oliver and Isabell Maniotis.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Mereness Putnum Funeral Home (171 Elm St, Cobleskill, NY 12043). Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home (171 Elm St, Cobleskill, NY 12043).
