He is survived by: his wife Cathy Townsend of Corning, NY; his children, Abel L. Townsend, Jr. of Corning, NY, Raymond C. Townsend of Painted Post, NY, Nancy M. Austin of Corning, NY, Kathy E. Snyder (Mark) and Robert B. Townsend of Elmira, NY; and his sisters, Shirley Thomas, Bonnie Blodgett and Carol Nichols. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren.
