Althea O. Roll Obituary
Althea O. Roll, age 96, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Althea was born to Charles and Mildred Holden on January 24, 1916, in Risingville, NY. She married Harry M. Roll, 1936 in Corning, NY. He predeceased her in 1971. Althea, through determination and perseverance, received many personal achievements. Among them, Who's Who of American Women, New York Women of distinction and Rotary's Paul Harris Award.
Althea's 70 plus working years included real estate broker, real estate developer, tax assessor, Steuben County legislator, Corning Community College trustee, antique and estate appraiser, and many other endeavors. She was known as being honest straightforward and standing on principle. Althea enjoyed her family, gardening, antiques, humor, Rotary, and a darn good fair fight.
She is survived by her Sons, Robert (Bonnie) Roll of Corning and Darrell (Linda) Roll of Painted Post; daughter-in-law, Susan Roll of Corning; granddaughters Kimberly (Tom) Cobb, Colleen (Treavor) Gullo and Heather (Tony) Artuso; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Adrianna Artuso, Sladen and Gracen Cobb. She was predeceased by her son, Harry M. Roll, Jr.
At Althea's request, in lieu of flowers, she would rather you take someone to dinner and enjoy. Calling hours for Althea will be held at Carpenters Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney St. Corning, NY 14830 on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5:00-7:00PM. A family service will be held at a later time.
