He is survived by: his wife Kathy Shafer of Corning; his children, Patrick Shafer (Sarah) of Lancaster, NY, Rebecca Murphy (Sean) of Elmira, NY and Melanie Makitra (Steven) of Bath, NY; his mother Mary Shafer (Blencowe) of Painted Post, NY; his brothers, Thomas Shafer (Carla) of Hammondsport, NY and Robert Shafer (Kathy Kinane) of Camillus, NY; and his grandchildren, Peyton, Sydney, Abigail and Kellan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
