She was predeceased by: her parents, Abel Olin and Luella May Townsend (Quill); her husband Edward J. Thomas; her siblings, Abel Townsend, Joyce Wilson, Richard Townsend and Danny Townsend; her grandchildren, Lee and Morgan; and her brothers-in-law, Don Nichols and Tony Blodgett.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cheryl Potts (Scott) of Painted Post, Christine Griswold of Painted Post, Rebecca Kelsey of Painted Post and Stacy Thomas of Corning; her grandchildren, Michael, Hali, Desiree, Cashtian, Hedasa, Deanna, Jessica, Brandon, James, Clarissa, Todd and Devin; her sisters, Bonnie Blodgett and Carol Nichols; and her sisters-in-law, Cathy Townsend and Diane Townsend. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene (10242 Hamilton Rd, Corning, NY 14830).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 10242 Hamilton Rd., Corning, NY 14830, in Shirley's memory and in honor of her faith and her love for the church's missionaries.
