He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond A. Clearwater and Adelaide Burgess Clearwater; and his siblings, Nelson and Mary Jane. He is survived by: his sons, Russell (Laura), James (Grace Jean) and David Clearwater (Terri); his grandchildren, Craig, Sean, Kenneth, Catherine, William and Leslie; and his great grandchildren, Isla, Fulton, Agnes Conley, Grady and Layla Clearwater.
