With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John R. Sanford of Cortland, New York, who passed away on July 7, 2025 at the age of 51. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Beatrice Sanford (Don Ellis) and Frank Sanford; his brother Ralph Sanford; his grandmother Thelma Powers (Seth); and his pet Rosco.
He is survived by: his daughter Erica Howser; his grandchildren, Hailey, Aubrey and Brailey; his daughter Brittany Frisbie (Alexander); his grandchildren, Carson and Kenzie; his siblings, Barbara Blanchard, Roger Burgdoff (Dawn), Donna Townsend, Rhonda Blake (Jay), David Sanford (Becky), Linda Sanford and Cindy Young (Scott); and his pet Thunder. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. (9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY 13045). A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
