He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Baeckmann and Gertrud Baeckmann; his wife Rita Baeckmann; and his daughter Regina Baeckmann. He is survived by: his children, Brigitte Gentile (Robert), Peter Baeckmann (Marie), Thomas Baeckmann (Lucy) and Eric Baeckmann (Heidi); and his sisters, Inge and Edith. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
