Matthew Tedeschi Obituary
Matthew Tedeschi, affectionately known as Matty, passed peacefully on January 25, 2020 at the age of 88.
Matty is survived by his brother Joseph Tedeschi, son Matthew J. Tedeschi, daughter Adriana Powers, as well as grandchildren Stephen Powers, and Danielle Powers. He is also survived by his second wife Eleanor Tedeschi (Pareres) and her family. Matty is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Lena Tedeschi, as well as his High School sweetheart and first wife Marlene Tedeschi (Keller).
Matty was born on October 7, 1931 in Brooklyn New York, to Pietro “Pete” Tedeschi and Maddalen “Lena” (Scocciamarra). In High School, he was an accomplished basketball player. Matty served in the Navy as an electrician on the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa. Matty married Marlene (Keller) on October 28, 1956. Matty was encouraged by his father-in-law Daniel Keller to become a printer at the New York Times. Daniel “Danny” had been like a second father to Matty. Matty took Danny’s advice, trained as a printer, and became employed at the Times. Matty and Marlene were blessed with two children, Matthew and Adriana. The family lived in Richmond Hill New York, and in later years North Valley Stream New York.
