William E. Updike of Dresden, New York passed away on September 7, 2026. William, born on June 3, 1942, shared life alongside family, friends, and others. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ken Updike and Thelma Updike (Skuse); his in-laws, Harry and Virginia Nelson; his sister Mary Ellen; and his siblings-in-law, Kenny Besley, Rose Dobbertin and Russel Morison.
He is survived by: his significant other Mary Nelson; his children, Brenda Morgan (Brian), Doug Updike (Christine), Patty Dean and Sara Updike (Justin Finizio); his sisters, Jeannie Morison and Kay Brownell (Ernie); his siblings-in-law, Elise, Herb Goodman, Carl and Mary Nelson; his grandchildren, Colin LaSalle, Matthew Morgan, Josh Updike, Kyle Finizio, Stephanie Updike, Jonathan Morgan, Allie Dean and Haylie Finizio; and his caregivers, Walter, Bambi, Kimberly and Jamie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Dresden United Methodist Church (60 Cornelia St, Dresden, NY 14441). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
