We announce the death of Magellan Jones Jr. (Dryden, New York), who passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by: his parents, Magellan Sr. Jones and Annie Jane Jones; his grandparents, Willie and Carrie Thomas; his sister Mattie Baughn; and his children, Beta Fay Jones, Michael Amos Jones and Frances Maria Jones.

He is survived by: his wife Maxine Cole-Jones; his children, Albert Jones, Deanna Jones, Magellan Jones III, J. Gregory Jones (LaKica), Angelette Mercier (Herman), Michelle Jones, Patricia McCrory (Tim), Cristie Floyd, Sondra Kaye Predmore, Alicia McFarland and Christian Campbell-King; his sisters, Mazie Gortmann and Lucille Carter (James); and his stepchildren, Joseph M. Cole (Jessica), Margo L. Budha (Eon), Sharon Whisby-Bentley and Raymond Whisby. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
