David K. Floyd Obituary
Mr. David K. Floyd, age 85 passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:45 pm at the Health Care Facility at One Fox Run in Orchard Park New York. David was born on July 11, 1932 in Buffalo New York the son of the late Kenneth Floyd and the late Julia (nee Halstead) Floyd. He married his high school sweatheart, Anne Zoller, after graduating from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
David served three years in the Air Force and then went on to graduate with honors from the University of Chicago Law School. He lived in several different locations around the country before settling in East Aurora in 1960. He was a highly respected senior partner at Phillips Lytle LLP specializing in enviromental law until his retirement in 1994.
He was a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and listed in the Best Lawyers of America. He served as Aurora Town Justice from 1966 to 1995. David was a loving father of 5 children and grandfather to 7 grandchildren. he was an avid golfer, tennis and bridge player, enjoyed traveling, reading and stamp collecting.
He was an Elder of the East Aurora Presbyterian Church. He was known by all for his quick wit and generous spirit. After his retirement, he volunteered tirelessly as an organizer for Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo and served on the Board of Directors for WNY Land Conservancy for 6 years. Anne and Dave moved to Fox Run of Orchard Park retirement community in 2008 after 48 years in East Aurora.
David asked that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to WNY Land Conservancy or Habitat for Humanity/Buffalo. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Anne (nee Zoller) Floyd. Father of Susan Floyd, Kenneth Floyd, Ellen (Richard) Svenson, Sarah Floyd and Daniel Floyd. Grandfather of Benjamin (Ghianne), Tyler, Rachel, Eric (Tess), Steven, Kimberly, and Sam.
Brother of John (Sandy) Floyd. Uncle of John (Beverly) and Emily (Jim) Mattler and great-uncle of Lisa and Zoe.
