He is survived by: his wife Edith Joyce Bethard Lys; his daughter Diana Lys; his son-in-law Neil Morrison; his grandchildren, Ian David and Eva Caroline; his son David Lys; his daughter-in-law Rachel Lys; his grandchildren, Brighton Jean, Brynley Katherine, Brie Elizabeth and Brooke Joy; his nieces, Donna Aisha Lubis and Diana Fariza Lubis (Rheza Mahardhika); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Eymar and Emyr.

A wake was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Yardley & Pino Funeral Home (94 Pantigo Rd, East Hampton, NY 11937). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of East Hampton (120 Main St, East Hampton, NY 11937).
