He was predeceased by: his parents, Patricia Bennett and Alfred Mills; and his sister Catherine Felker. He is survived by: his wife Sheila (Finnell); his children, Rebecca Geiger (Dan) of Centreville, VA, Bridgette Gibbs (Jon) of Elmira, NY and Shawn Mills of Wilmington, NC; his grandchildren, Peyton, Connor, Sydney, Lucian and Corbin; his sister Patricia Mills; and his in-laws, Robert, Susan Sparrow, Timothy and Kathleen Meisenzahl. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA or a local animal shelter in memory of David and his foxhound, Ariel.
