With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Kirk Rose (Elmira, New York), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Kirk left this world on September 6, 2025 at the age of 91, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. As we bid Kirk farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Kirk is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Rose and Eileen Rose. He is survived by: his wife Shirley G. Shepherd; his daughters, Heather (Ken Cranford), Tami (Steve Goodwin) of Oshkosh, WI and Debbie (Wayne Hobgood) of Oxford, NC; and his brother James H. Rose of Vermont. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (1054 W Clinton St, Elmira, NY 14905). The inurnment will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at the Woodlawn National Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance in his memory.
