She was predeceased by: her parents, Telcina August and Leis Mercier; and her husband Antonio L. Alcindor. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 stepson (her second stepson, who previously died), 1 stepdaughter, 13 step-grandchildren, and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
