He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Clarence and Vera Mable Stephens (Brungess); his wife Ruth May; and his sisters, Martha Jean Harris and Laura Jean Ovens.

He is survived by: his children, Christine Miner (Richard), Dawn Stephens and Bradley Stephens (Elizabeth); his stepson Ronald Randall (Lisa); his brother Ralph Stephens (Darlene); his brother-in-law Robert Tinklepaugh; his father-in-law Brad Ball; his friend Jim Ford; Jim and John. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren with another great grandson.
