He is survived by: his wife Muriel; his brother Donald Herzig (Joan) of Florida; his children, Nancy Peterson (Martin), John Herzig (Irene) and Susan Balliet (Brian); and his grandchildren, Kelly Bensol (Judd), Kevin Peterson (Tanya), Lisa Poth (Ryan), Eric Herzig (Laura), Jason Balliet (Clarinda) and Cory Balliet (Julie). He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
