He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard Schwedes and Hildegard Schwedes; his brother Rolf Schwedes; and his wife Linda Schwedes. He is survived by: his sons, Eric Schwedes (Sheila) of Manlius, NY and Scott Schwedes (Jodi) of Fayetteville, NY; his brothers, Jan Erik Kamfjord (Karen) of Philadelphia, PA and Herbert Schwedes of Middleton, NJ; his grandchildren, Erin, Aidan, Logan Schwedes, Michael and Erica Schwedes; and his sister-in-law Debbie Allen (Mike). He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, cousins, teammates and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to a charity that supports animals in remembrance of Ger's lifelong love of animals.
