He is survived by: his wife Helen "Eleni" Hatjaras; his daughters, Despina Cucinotta and Constance Sakal (Joseph); his daughter-in-law Dana Hasapis; his grandchildren, Christina Cucinotta, Thomas Cucinotta (Kellie), Victoria Sakal and Daniel Sakal; and his great grandchildren, Kimberly Cucinotta and Cameron Cucinotta. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Donations in honor of James can be made to St. Jude's Children hospital.
