He was predeceased by: his parents, Allie W. Scruggs and Evelyn Miller Scruggs Dandridge; his daughter Mary Catherine; his stepmother Sadie Glover Scruggs; and his brothers, Professor Allie W. Scruggs of Brookline, MA and Marc Scruggs of San Francisco, CA..
He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Charles of Rochester, NY, Amy Wade (Billy) of Rochester, NY, Robert of Carrboro, NC and Emily; and his granddaughters, Emma Grace and Ella Wade.
