He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Barnes and Inez Barnes (Sprague); his son David Barnes; and his siblings, Edward Barnes and LouAnna "Peggy" Fonti (Christopher).
He is survived by: his wife Brunhild "Brenda" Barnes (Jedamski); his children, Kent Strege (Kathryn Donoghue), Daniel Barnes and Donna Geary (Rick); his daughter-in-law Donna Barnes; his grandchildren, Dan Barnes Jr., Bryan Barnes (Holly), Bob Barnes (Kristina), Zac Strege (Natalie Wagner), Hayleigh Hoslett (Isac), Colton Strege and Kody Strege; and his great grandchildren, Chase, Ciena, Cordelia and Savannah. He is also survived by his extended family, and many dear friends.
The military honors will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bath National Cemetery.
