He was predeceased by: his son David F. Metzger; his grandson David E. Metzger; his siblings, Friede Metzger, David W. Metzger and June E. Metzger; and his parents, Rev. Rudolph W. Metzger and Rev. Joyce E. Hibbard Metzger.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Chesbro Metzger; and his children, Darlene Croston (David) of Binghamton, Darla Meritt (Jeff) of Geneseo, Dan Metzger (Leyla) of Penfield, Danielle Dobbins (Kevin) of Hagerstown, MD, Debbie Burrous of Red Creek, NY and Deanna Julie Metzger of Arkport. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and 5 nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home (111 Main St, Geneseo, NY 14454-1221). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Faith Fellowship Church (5630 Pebble Beach Rd, Lakeville, NY 14480). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elizabeth G. and Jennifer J. Hildebrant Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626.
