He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughter Dr. Bettina Pels-Wetzel; his grandchildren, Jonathan Wetzel and Brittney Wetzel Stewart; his great grandchildren, Emily, Renate and Abigail; his wife Gisela; his parents, Walter Pels and Grete Katz; and his sister Renate.
