He was predeceased by: his mother Irene Johnston (Constantineau); and his wife Linda. He is survived by: his parent Thomas Johnston; his children, Beth Bidwell (Brad) of Queensbury, NY, James Jr. Johnston Jr. (Tracy) of Queensbury, NY and Matthew Johnston (Kate) of Midway, Utah; his grandchildren, Melanie McGuire (Mike) of Fort Ann, NY, Dr. Jessie Johnston of Fort Collins, Colorado, Devin Johnston and Nathan Bidwell of Greenfield Center, NY.; and his brother Richard Johnston (Cynthia). He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Carleton Funeral Home (68 Main St, Hudson Falls, NY 12839). A prayer was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
